Abstract:

“Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs)  and Organic Electrochemical Transistors (OECT) are foreseen as essential components for organic-based flexible electronic (including neuromorphic) circuits and  sensors. Their design and optimization  will require accurate compact models of these devices. A deep understanding of the physics of OTFTs and OECTs is necessary for the development of models for these devices.
This talk is intended to provide a review and discussion of the physical phenomena which are relevant to the behavior of OTFTs and OECTs. Some of these effects are still not fully understood. Afterwards, suitable techniques to develop physically-based compact models will be presented. In particular, drain current, capacitance, transient and noise modeling will be targeted.”
Bio:
Benjamin Iñiguez obtained the Ph D in Physics in 1996. In 2001 he joined the University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain) as Professor.
His main research interest is the compact modeling of advanced semiconductor devices, including Multi-Gate MOSFETs GaN HEMTs, and Thin-Film Transistors. He have published more than 190 papers in journals.
Some of the models he developed or contributed to develop were incorporated to commercial versions of circuit design tools, such as the last versions of the so-called RPI TFT models, the MOTFT metal-oxide TFT model, and the ASM GaN HEMT model.
He led two EU-funded research projects (about compact modeling) and participated or is participating as team leader in five more.
He is IEEE EDS Distinguished Lecturer since 2004. In 2019 he was elected IEEE Fellow due to his contributions to compact modeling.  He was the Vice-President (VP)  of EDS  Subcommittee on Regions and Chapters (SRC) from 2024 to 2025, and is currently Associate  VP of SRC since 2026.”
