IEEE Distinguished Lecture RF technologies – Replay available

Last week, we had the chance to welcome Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay, Senior Director and head of Strategic Applications – End Market organization of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, USA, for a IEEE distinguished lecture on “RF technologies needed for the next generation of wireless connectivity”.

Abstract:

We are approaching another inflection point of cellular hashtag#communications with the hashtag#6G cellular standard to be launched by the end of this decade.
The next generation of wireless connectivity including both cellular and WiFi needs to address the key requirements of existing high data rate applications and emerging applications like AR/VR, telepresence etc. in a power efficient way. Other challenges are limited form factor, reasonable coverage and minimized dead zone.

This talk highlights the hardware challenges of future wireless connectivity and how innovations in RF technologies can address the above challenges citing examples of technology differentiations covering both Silicon and III-V.

About the speaker:

Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay is the Senior Director and head of Strategic Applications within the End Market organization of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, USA. His work is currently focused on hardware architecture and technology evaluations for emerging RF/mmwave and analog/mixed signal-based applications covering smart mobile devices, cellular infrastructure, Sat Comm and IOT. Prior to joining GLOBALFOUNDRIES, he was with IBM Microelectronics and with Intel where he worked on different areas like RF Design Enablement, Silicon Photonics, signal integrity in RF and Mixed signal SOC’s. He is an IEEE Fellow and a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Electron Devices Society.
